Time Away From Time

Much of my blogging has to do with all the healing and wellness arts I endeavor to bring to the world. Much of the time I get clues from fellow practitioners. First I should say is that the reason I'm a serial teacher of all things I do is that it is a mechanism to keep my head in the game so to speak.

Because I "enjoy" the juggle of trying to be a master of many trades, I sometimes realize that I once again have taken off into a mode of total service but everyone but myself. I believe that the most spiritual practice is that of realizing the divine in myself. Recently I was reminded to reset myself and get back into the state of mind that is healthy.

I respect people who can use one method to find their magic spot. The important thing is to have one place called bliss, this is where grace happens and life can fall into place.

Personally a good solid meditation is my go to spot, but I enjoy the gift of ADD so I have a toolbox of things.

So if you're like me, try these things.

1. If you use yoga to get into moving meditation, go to a class where you don't have to guide the script, just turn on your reptillion brain and flow with the teacher, keeping spirit in your heart and mind

2. Same with QiGong, it's good to practice alone, but have a teacher that can remind you of all the nuances that the art can bring you. Then on your own, you can enter what I know as QSOM (QiGong State of Mind). Mindfully of the flow, but practiced enough to just let your mind be free with QSOM and your body move on it's own.

3. Walking, do this on a path (preferably one that's familiar and in a quiet place). Then just slowly step by step release each distracting thought as you go. This can go on for 30 steps or 30 miles, just don't get lost.

4. Standing meditation; QiGong's Vase meditation, or Yoga's Tadasana where you can stand upright but comfortable for a few minutes clearing your head and righting your posture.

5. Write. light journaling, or free form poetry or prose can be very freeing. Try just scribbling on and on, then later to make yourself smile, read it back to yourself... you'll realize the clutter that was stuck in your mind.

My first truly freeing experience was my first HOT YOGA class, and one of few times that my ego benefited me. After the class I was amazed that I had not thought about the bills, my pending divorce... nothing except "look good, don't faint, especially in front of all these ladies." Really my mind was freed from all my real worries for at least an hour.

Since then I've found that to at least have teachers and mentors, I no longer have to look far even if I'm struggling. Just call your nearest Yoga pal, Reiki practitioner, QiGong, or Zen master to get you put back in the right place.

Peace and blessings to you!
